AirAsia Philippines raises Manila–Kaohsiung flights to seven a week and teams up with Pingtung County
AirAsia Philippines is increasing its Manila–Kaohsiung service from four to seven flights a week in October, the airline announced in Manila on 28 October 2026, as part of a push to promote southern Taiwan to travellers from the Philippines.
The carrier is working with the Pingtung County Government to market the county's destinations, culture and experiences in the Philippines. Kaohsiung International Airport is about a 25-minute drive from Pingtung, Taiwan's southernmost county on the main island, which lies across the Bashi Channel from the Philippines' northernmost province, Batanes. Attractions highlighted by the airline include the Shanchuan Glass Suspension Bridge, the century-old V.I.P. Zone Japanese-style dormitory village, the National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and the Eluanbi Lighthouse.
The airline cites the Department of Tourism as ranking Taiwan among the top three overseas destinations for Filipinos in 2026, on affordability and visa-free access, and says its own booking data puts Taipei and Kaohsiung among its five leading international destinations this year. Anna Victoria Lu, president and general manager of AirAsia Philippines, said the airline was proud to work closely with Pingtung to uncover new destinations.
The announcement does not give the date from which the extra flights operate, the days of operation, timings or aircraft type. Travellers should check the current schedule with AirAsia and confirm the entry conditions that apply to their nationality before travelling.
