Frankfurt handled 6.1 million passengers in September
Frankfurt Airport handled approximately 6.1 million passengers in September, up 1.6% from a year earlier, Fraport reported on 13 October. Across the first nine months, passenger traffic was down 0.2%. Cargo throughput grew 2.5% in September, while aircraft movements fell 3.5% compared with the same month in 2025.
Fraport links September's performance to leisure demand, including school holidays in nearby German regions. Across January to September, however, the cumulative passenger figure showed a slight decline. The operator cites adverse factors during the year, including strikes that affected Lufthansa operations. That historical explanation is not an announcement of further industrial action.
Cargo figures and aircraft movements measure different things from passenger volumes. Fewer movements do not automatically establish shorter queues or better punctuality for a connection. Anyone preparing a transfer through Frankfurt should check current terminal, gate, connection-time and schedule information. September's statistics describe an aggregate trend, not the live status of any individual flight.
