Helsinki Airport gets a new family-focused lounge in its non-Schengen area
Helsinki Airport now has two Plaza Premium lounges side by side in its non-Schengen area near Gate 40, airport operator Finavia announced on 9 October 2026. The existing Plaza Premium Lounge Aurora has been refurbished, and a new lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge Lumi, has been added next to it.
Aurora seats approximately 100 guests and offers buffet dining, complimentary drinks, showers, a children's play area and a bookable meeting room. Finavia says it is aimed primarily at customers of partner airlines.
Lumi is designed as a family-oriented space and, according to Finavia, features the world's first interactive iWall gaming wall in an airport lounge, a motion-based platform developed in Finland that needs no controllers. Unlike Aurora, Lumi is open to walk-in guests, travellers who book in advance and members of lounge access programmes.
Both lounges are run by Plaza Premium Group, which also opened the Bites & Plates restaurant at the airport earlier in 2026. Joona Salonen, Finavia's Head of Airport Lounges, said interest in lounge services continues to grow among passengers. Because the lounges sit in the non-Schengen area, they are relevant mainly to passengers flying outside the Schengen zone.
Finavia's announcement does not state the lounges' opening hours or Lumi's capacity. Travellers planning to use either lounge should check access conditions and opening times with the operator or their airline before travelling.
