Ezeiza maintenance works: Iberia's Buenos Aires–Madrid flights stop in Montevideo until 11 November
Iberia's flights from Buenos Aires Ezeiza to Madrid are making a technical refuelling stop in Montevideo because of maintenance works at the Argentine airport between 25 October and 11 November 2026, according to the airline's flight update page.
Iberia says flights between Madrid and Buenos Aires may be affected throughout that period, and that departures from Buenos Aires bound for Madrid will stop in the Uruguayan capital to refuel. The airline does not describe the works themselves on the page.
Passengers holding tickets bought by 8 May 2026 for flights to or from Ezeiza operated by Iberia, Iberia Express or Air Nostrum, with an original travel date inside the affected window, have three options. They can move the travel date to between 15 October and 30 November 2026, change origin or destination to another airport up to 300 kilometres away, or ask for a refund as a voucher. Only one change is allowed. The airline says the refund goes back to the original form of payment only if the flight is ultimately cancelled.
The same page lists a separate maintenance period at Santiago de Chile until 3 November, during which flight IB118 to Madrid may stop in Rio de Janeiro. Iberia does not say how much longer the Buenos Aires journey will take with the stop in Montevideo, nor whether other airlines are affected. Travellers should check their booking with their airline before departure.
