Kenya Airways alert: enhanced Ebola screening for travellers to Kenya from DR Congo, Uganda and South Sudan
Kenya Airways has updated its travel alert on entry requirements for Kenya, telling passengers that Kenya has enhanced screening for travellers arriving from, or who have recently visited, areas affected by Ebola, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan. The alert was last updated on 3 November 2026.
According to the airline, passengers transiting Kenya must comply both with Kenya's health requirements and with the entry requirements of their final destination, and these rules also apply to indirect routings. For travel to the United States, the alert says that non-US citizens and nationals must have stayed outside Uganda, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo for more than 21 days before entering the country.
The alert therefore concerns both passengers travelling to Kenya and those changing planes there, whose onward journey also depends on the rules of the country they are flying to. Kenya Airways advises travellers to verify all destination and transit entry requirements before travelling and to check official government and Ministry of Health channels for the latest updates before their flight.
The alert does not describe how the screening is carried out on arrival and does not say that any flights have been cancelled or changed. Passengers who have been in the countries named, or who are connecting through Kenya, should confirm the current requirements with their airline and the relevant authorities before departure.
Check the operator's latest conditions before booking or travelling.
