Luxembourg Airport special assistance: request it through your airline at least 72 hours before departure

Editorial interpretation

Passengers who need help at Luxembourg Airport should ask their airline, tour operator or travel agent to arrange it at least 72 hours before departure, according to the airport operator lux-Airport. The airline then passes the request on to the airport, which provides the assistance.

On arrival at the airport, report to your airline's check-in counter. The service covers wheelchair help to and from the aircraft, getting on and off the plane and reaching your seat. Luxembourg's Directorate of Civil Aviation explains how responsibility is shared: the airport takes the passenger to their seat on the aircraft and the airline takes over once they are seated, with the same arrangement on disembarkation. Passengers who have pre-notified their need for assistance are pre-boarded individually before other passengers.

Security screening still applies to everyone. The civil aviation authority states that people with reduced mobility or disabilities, and their medical or mobility equipment, cannot be exempted from checks, but a qualified agent accompanies them through all pre-flight formalities.

Travellers using their own wheelchair should give the airline its make, model, weight, dimensions and type, folding or not, electric or manual, plus the battery type for electric models, as wheelchairs travel in the hold. The terminal has lifts, wide automatic doors and adapted toilets, and reserved parking for blue badge holders. Confirm these details with your airline when booking.
