Tallinn Airport records its busiest October, but expects about 9% less winter capacity
Tallinn Airport handled about 375,000 passengers in October 2026, its highest October on record and 7.5% more than a year earlier, the Estonian airport operator said on 4 November. The total beat the previous October record, set in 2025, by 26,000 passengers.
In the first ten months of the year the airport served 3.27 million passengers, up 11%. Aircraft movements rose 2.2% to 3,955 take-offs and landings in October, an average of 128 a day. Twenty-four airlines flew to 55 destinations. airBaltic remained the largest carrier with a 23% share, while Wizz Air, which flew to eight destinations and carried 15% of passengers, contributed most to growth. Warsaw, Helsinki, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Riga were the most popular scheduled destinations; Turkey, Egypt and Greece led charter traffic.
Estonia's regional airports also grew, to 9,523 passengers from 8,614 a year earlier, and Tartu passed 5,000 passengers in a single month for the first time. "This year's summer season was characterised by a wider choice of destinations than ever before," said Eero Pärgmäe, a member of the airport's management board.
The winter season, which began on 25 October, looks weaker: the operator expects flight capacity to be about 9% lower on average than last winter, as airlines optimise their networks and fuel prices rise. Scheduled winter destinations still include Amsterdam, Dublin, Funchal, London, Málaga and Tenerife. The release does not detail which routes lose frequencies, so passengers should check operating days with their airline.
