Air China opens Keflavík's first scheduled link to mainland China, via Copenhagen

Air China launched scheduled flights between Beijing and Keflavík Airport, Iceland's main international gateway, on Monday 26 October 2026, with a stop in Copenhagen, according to an announcement by the airport.

The route operates three times a week. Keflavík Airport describes it as its first scheduled connection to mainland China, and the inaugural flight was greeted with a welcome ceremony at the airport on the day of the launch.

Sveinbjörn Indriðason, chief executive of Isavia, the operator of Keflavík Airport, called the route a major milestone for Iceland's tourism, trade and international ties. Ómar Svavarsson, Keflavík's chief commercial officer, said it adds a valuable connection to Asia and supports the airport's efforts to diversify its route network.

For travellers, the service creates a one-airline itinerary between China and Iceland, with Copenhagen as the intermediate stop. The airport's announcement does not state the aircraft type, the days of operation, flight numbers or schedules, nor whether passengers can book only the Copenhagen–Keflavík sector. It also does not say whether the route is seasonal or year-round. Travellers interested in the route should check the details directly with Air China.
