Airlink adds Lanseria–Harare and Johannesburg–George routes and more Zanzibar flights for the southern summer
South African regional airline Airlink is expanding its schedule for the southern African summer, adding a new route between Johannesburg Lanseria and Harare in November and a new daily Johannesburg–George service in December, the airline announced in Johannesburg on 19 October 2026. The changes run from October to December.
From October, Airlink is putting its Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with a Business Class cabin on its twice-weekly Johannesburg–Zanzibar flights and on its daily Johannesburg–Nairobi service. The Lanseria–Harare route launches in November with an Embraer E190 three times a week. In December, Johannesburg–Zanzibar rises to three flights a week, Cape Town–Harare gains three weekly flights, Johannesburg–Nosy Be in Madagascar gets an extra Saturday flight, and Cape Town–George adds two weekend return services.
Airlink chief executive de Villiers Engelbrecht said the airline wants to give customers more choice and a better experience during a season when people travel to see family, go on holiday or work. For travellers in South Africa, the new options add capacity on domestic links to George and on regional flights to Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Madagascar.
The announcement gives timetables but does not say how many seats each change adds or whether the extra flights continue after the summer. Passengers should check exact dates and times for their travel day with Airlink before booking, as schedules can change.
