ANA revises international fuel surcharge for tickets issued from 1 November

All Nippon Airways will apply a revised fuel surcharge on its international flights to and from Japan for tickets issued on or after 1 November 2026, the ANA Group announced on 15 October 2026, citing a sharp recent rise in fuel prices.

ANA normally resets the surcharge every two months, using the average Singapore kerosene price over the previous two months and, for itineraries starting in Japan, the average exchange rate for the same period. For Japan-origin tickets issued in November and December, market prices alone would have placed the surcharge in a higher band, but ANA says it will apply the band immediately below as a special exception, linked to emergency government fuel subsidies for aviation introduced because of the situation in the Middle East.

The surcharge is charged per passenger and per one-way international segment. It is the same for adults, children and infants who occupy a seat, and it also applies to ANA Mileage Club award tickets; infants under two without their own seat are not charged. If a ticket is refunded, no cancellation or refund fee is deducted from the surcharge, which is returned in full.

The text of the announcement does not state how the new level compares with the previous one, and the route-by-route amounts are published in tables on ANA's site. Travellers buying ANA tickets around the end of October should check the surcharge shown at the time of purchase, since it depends on the date of issue rather than the date of travel.
