Alaska Airlines to fly Anchorage–Tokyo Narita non-stop from May 2027 with Boeing 737 MAX 8

Alaska Airlines will launch non-stop flights between Anchorage and Tokyo Narita on 13 May 2027, the airline announced on 27 October 2026. The service, which is subject to government approval, will operate daily during the summer season and was put on sale the same day.

Flights from Anchorage are scheduled to leave at 2:10 p.m. and arrive in Tokyo at 3:25 p.m. the next day. The return leaves Narita at 9:45 p.m. and reaches Anchorage at 12 p.m., with the first return flight on 14 May 2027. The daily summer flights run until 7 September 2027 from Anchorage and 8 September from Tokyo. Alaska plans a winter service three times a week from January 2028.

The route will be flown with a Boeing 737 MAX 8, which the airline says is the only 737 in its fleet able to operate it. Tickets are sold on alaskaair.com and hawaiianairlines.com, and the airline is offering introductory fares for travel between 13 May and 7 June 2027 in a sale that runs until 31 October, subject to availability and with a round-trip purchase required.

The service still depends on government approval, and the announcement does not specify which days the winter flights will run. Passengers considering these flights should confirm the schedule and approval status with Alaska Airlines when booking, and check Japanese and US entry requirements before travelling.
