Argentina: ANAC workers' union plans airport protest on 6 November, with work-to-rule at Ezeiza and Aeroparque

Argentina's state workers' union ATE has announced protest action at the country's airports on Friday 6 November 2026 and warns that flights could be delayed or cancelled. According to the union's announcement of 2 November, staff of the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) will hold a work stoppage, and at Buenos Aires' Ezeiza International Airport and Aeroparque Jorge Newbery the action will take the form of a work-to-rule protest centred on checks of aircraft and operational areas.

ATE says it has denounced safety shortfalls at more than 27 airports. It cites fire-fighting vehicles out of service at the airport in San Luis, a similar situation at El Pucú in Formosa, and shortages of fire-fighting agents, protective equipment, ambulances and emergency medical supplies at most airports. The union is also demanding the immediate convening of sector-level wage bargaining for ANAC staff and says it will give notice of the action as the law requires.

The union states that sanitary, humanitarian, organ-transport and official flights will be guaranteed during the protest. Its general secretary, Rodolfo Aguiar, said the claim is not directed against passengers.

The announcement gives no start or end times, does not say which airlines or individual flights will be affected and does not include any response from the government or the airlines. Passengers flying to, from or within Argentina on 6 November should check the status of their flight with their airline before leaving for the airport.
