British Airways starts London Gatwick flights to Colombo and a daily Gatwick–Barbados service this winter

British Airways has started flying from London Gatwick to Colombo in Sri Lanka and has added a daily Gatwick service to Bridgetown in Barbados, London Gatwick said on 27 October 2026. The Colombo route runs three times a week throughout the winter season from Friday 23 October, and the Bridgetown service operates daily from Sunday 25 October.

According to the airport, the Bridgetown route will continue into the 2027 summer season, and weekly flights from Gatwick to Bridgetown rise to 14 this winter, almost double the number of last winter. Gatwick also says it will offer 14 more weekly flights to Asia this winter than in 2025, an increase of 22% on last winter.

Jonny Macneal, Head of Aviation Development at London Gatwick, said the airport was delighted that British Airways is expanding its long-haul operation there. Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways, said Gatwick is an important part of the airline's network and that the routes give customers more choice for a winter break.

The announcement does not state the aircraft type or the flight times, so travellers should check the schedule and the departure airport on their own booking with British Airways.
