Brussels Airport handled 2.4 million passengers in September, up 3.9%, with cargo also rising

Brussels Airport handled 2,361,512 passengers in September 2026, 3.9% more than in September 2025, the airport operator reported on 14 October. Cargo volumes also grew, rising by 6.8% to more than 70,000 tonnes.

Transfer passengers made up 14% of departing travellers, and each flight carried an average of 150 passengers, two more than a year earlier. Spain, Italy, Türkiye, Greece, Germany, Morocco, Portugal, France, the United States and Switzerland were the ten most popular destination countries. Commercial flight movements rose by 2.3%, with passenger flights up 2.5% and cargo flights up 3.2%.

On the cargo side, trucked freight was the main driver, up 37.2%, while freight flown in the holds of passenger aircraft rose by 11.4%. Full-freighter volumes fell by 1.1% and integrator volumes by 0.2%. Asia, Latin America and North America were the main import regions.

From January to September the airport counted more than 19 million passengers, an increase of about 3.2%, despite two national trade union action days in March and May and a spontaneous strike at air navigation service provider skeyes in June. The figures describe traffic already flown and do not indicate how busy the airport will be on a particular day; passengers should follow the airport's own advice on arrival times when travelling.
