Copa Airlines traffic rises 17.1% in September 2026 as capacity grows 15.7%

Copa Holdings, the parent company of Copa Airlines, said in Panama City on 8 October 2026 that its passenger traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles, rose 17.1% in September 2026 compared with September 2025, while capacity, measured in available seat miles, grew 15.7%.

According to the preliminary figures, Copa recorded 2,674.4 million revenue passenger miles in September, up from 2,283.1 million a year earlier, and offered 3,041.0 million available seat miles, against 2,628.2 million in September 2025. The system load factor for the month was 87.9%, which the company says is 1.1 percentage points higher than a year earlier.

Revenue passenger miles measure the distance flown by paying passengers, while available seat miles measure the seats offered multiplied by the distance flown. The load factor shows the share of that capacity that was filled. With traffic growing faster than capacity, a larger part of the seats Copa offered in September were occupied than in the same month last year.

The figures are preliminary and the release does not break them down by route, market or cabin, nor does it comment on demand for the coming months. Travellers planning trips with Copa should check schedules and availability directly with the airline.
