Flying from Copenhagen with young children: the family security lane and the baby food exemption

Editorial interpretation

Families with children under approximately six years old can use a dedicated family lane through the security checkpoint at Copenhagen Airport, according to the airport’s guidance for travelling with children. The airport also suggests arriving two and a half to three hours before departure for a more relaxed trip.

Baby food is exempt from the liquid rules, so families can bring larger quantities in their cabin bags. It should be shown in a tray at the screening point, and baby food and liquids may be subject to extra checks, so it helps to pack them where they can be taken out quickly.

Inside the terminal, changing facilities are available in many toilets, marked with icons, in addition to the baby lounge. Passengers travelling in SAS Business or SAS Plus can use the SAS family lounge, which has toys and children’s television.

The family page does not cover pushchairs in detail, referring instead to the airport’s separate guide to allowed items, and it does not deal with travel documents. Before leaving home, check the pushchair rules with your airline and in that guide, and make sure every child has the identity document required for your destination.
