Delta postpones launch of Atlanta–Riyadh nonstop service until March 2027
Delta Air Lines has postponed the launch of its planned nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh until March 2027, citing evolving developments in the region, according to a statement published on the airline's newsroom on 12 October 2026.
Delta says it is monitoring the situation and that the safety and security of its customers and employees always come first. The airline adds that it is in close contact with relevant government and aviation partners, including Saudia and Riyadh Air, that Saudi Arabia remains an important market and that it is committed to serving the Kingdom in the long term.
With the new timing, the nonstop link between Delta's Atlanta hub and the Saudi capital will not start before March 2027. Travellers who had booked the service need to make other arrangements.
Delta says customers with affected travel can review their options, including refunds of the unflown portion of the trip, in the My Trips section of delta.com or in the Delta app, and points to a travel waiver for Riyadh. The statement does not give a precise date in March for the first flight, nor a schedule or aircraft for the delayed launch. Customers should check the waiver conditions with Delta before changing a booking.
