FAA construction outlook: runway and taxiway closures at major US airports into late 2026

The US Federal Aviation Administration's Q4-2026 Airport Construction Impact Report, dated 1 October 2026, lists runway and taxiway works at the country's busiest airports that continue into the coming weeks, several of which the FAA expects to reduce capacity and potentially add delays.

At Boston Logan, runway 9/27 is closed for about 75 days until 15 November, a project the FAA rates as reduced capacity with greater delay and says "will impact the airport capacity". At Orlando, runway 17L/35R marking work means one-runway-closed operations from 2 to 18 November. At Dallas/Fort Worth, a taxiway A bridge is closed from 26 October to 9 November, and the report says aircraft waiting for the bridge may incur departure delays of about 15 minutes. Work on runway 1C/19C at Washington Dulles runs until 22 November, and Philadelphia's runway 9R/27L has nightly closures until December.

Other projects continue at New York JFK and LaGuardia, Detroit, Miami and Charlotte, with impact ratings that range from no capacity effect to reduced capacity and potential delay.

The FAA states that the report is not for operational use and that the information is constantly changing and may be postponed or cancelled at any time. It does not identify individual flights. Passengers flying through these airports should check their flight status with their airline on the day of travel.
