Qatar Airways to fly Doha–Western Sydney from December 2027
Qatar Airways will start flying between Doha and the new Western Sydney International Airport (WSI) on 15 December 2027, making the airport its seventh gateway in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra. The airline announced the route in Doha on 20 October 2026; tickets go on sale on 19 December 2026.
The service will begin with three flights a week on a Boeing 777-300ER fitted with Qsuite Business Class and Economy Class, and the airline says it intends to increase it to daily. Flight QR906 will leave Hamad International Airport (DOH) on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 01:40, landing in Western Sydney at 23:45. The return, QR907, will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 16:10 and arrive in Doha at 23:00, in local times as published by the airline. Starlink Wi-Fi will be free on board.
For travellers in western Sydney, the route offers a second airport option for one-stop journeys to Europe, the Middle East and Africa through Doha. For passengers in Europe, including Portugal, it adds another way into Australia via a single connection.
The schedule is more than a year away and may still change before the first flight, so anyone planning a trip should confirm times and days with Qatar Airways at the time of booking.
