Sydney Airport to open its first independent domestic lounge in T2 in early December

Sydney Airport and Plaza Premium Group have announced a new 113-seat lounge in the T2 Domestic terminal, beyond security, scheduled to open in early December 2026 to coincide with the completion of the airport's T2 redevelopment. It will be the first independent lounge not operated by an airline in Sydney Airport's domestic precinct.

The lounge will be open to departing T2 passengers regardless of airline, ticket class or frequent flyer status, with paid entry booked in advance or bought on arrival as a walk-in. The operator promises quiet workspaces, high-speed connectivity, locally inspired food and drink, barista coffee and a full-service bar. With the new space, Plaza Premium will run six airport hospitality products at Sydney Airport, its largest presence at any Australian airport.

The opening is part of a wider Plaza Premium programme in Australia over the next 24 months that also includes rebuilding its Brisbane International lounge and a new domestic lounge at Cairns Airport, planned for early 2027. Mark Zaouk, Sydney Airport's Group Executive Commercial, said the airport was delighted to expand its partnership with Plaza Premium and welcome the lounge to T2, while Plaza Premium's Chief Transformation Officer Mei Mei Song said Australia had become one of the group's most important growth markets.

The announcement gives no exact opening day or lounge opening hours. Travellers planning to use it in December should check the booking conditions and current prices with Plaza Premium before travelling.
