Aena airports handle more than 37.6 million passengers in September
Aena Group airports handled 37.67 million passengers in September 2026, up 3.9% year on year. The Spanish network accounted for 31.67 million, a 4.2% increase, according to figures published on 13 October.
The group also includes airports in Brazil and the United Kingdom. Traffic rose 1.1% in Brazil and 7.3% at London Luton.
The distinction matters: 37.67 million is the group total, not Spain alone. Passenger volumes do not measure flight punctuality.
The group operates airports in several countries, so the Spanish network needs to be separated from operations in Brazil and the United Kingdom. Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat and Palma de Mallorca are among Spain's busiest airports. Overseas trends can differ: Aena reports individual activity at facilities including Recife, Congonhas, London Luton and Leeds Bradford.
Aena also publishes aircraft movements and freight tonnage, which measure different activities from passenger numbers. A group-wide total cannot be treated as a picture of security queues or punctuality at one particular airport. The figures concern September 2026 and describe demand; travellers should check current airport, airline and individual flight information.
