VINCI Airports: Porto and Faro grow in third quarter as network traffic dips slightly
Porto and Faro airports recorded the strongest growth among the Portuguese airports run by ANA in the third quarter of 2026, with passenger numbers up 7.1% and 3.7% respectively, VINCI Airports said on 19 October 2026 in its traffic update to 30 September.
Across its whole network, the group handled 93.5 million passengers in the quarter, 0.6% fewer than in the same period of 2025. The update describes very different trends from country to country. In the United Kingdom, London Gatwick fell 2.9%, which VINCI calls an easing of the decline, while Edinburgh grew on extra capacity from Ryanair, easyJet and Jet2, mainly to Mediterranean destinations. The group's Japanese airports fell 8.8%, which it attributes to tensions between China and Japan, and traffic at Santiago de Chile declined, mainly because of fuel price trends and winter schedule adjustments. Cabo Verde rose notably on stronger European links, including new easyJet and TAP routes.
For Portugal, the figures confirm continued growth at Porto and in the Algarve during the summer quarter. The VINCI update does not give quarterly figures for Lisbon, Madeira or the Azores.
The release is a group-level traffic summary and does not explain the Portuguese results airport by airport or give a forecast for the winter season. Readers looking for monthly passenger statistics for a specific Portuguese airport should consult ANA's own publications.
