Airbus and Blue Angels Air agree pilot-training programme for Indian cadets

Airbus and Blue Angels Air, an aviation training organisation based in India, announced an agreement on 5 November 2026 to train aspiring airline pilots through the Airbus Flight Academy network. The arrangement concerns ab initio training for cadets, rather than a new passenger air route or a change to airline schedules.

Airbus says the cadets will follow its full ab initio training syllabus, designed around European Union Aviation Safety Agency standards. Candidates will still need to meet the relevant licence-conversion requirements of India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The agreement therefore does not itself grant an Indian commercial pilot licence.

The companies also describe increasing women's participation in pilot training as a shared goal. They refer to existing involvement with aviation organisations supporting women in the industry, but the announcement does not disclose a confirmed number of female participants or a recruitment quota.

According to Airbus, the first group of cadets is due to begin training in 2027 at the Aviator Institute partner flight school in Monastir, Tunisia. The announcement addresses future pilot-training capacity in a growing aviation market. It does not indicate any immediate effect on operating flights, airport access or passenger entitlements.
