Emirates carried 21.8 million passengers in six months, down 22% amid regional conflict
Emirates carried 21.8 million passengers between 1 April and 30 September 2026, 22% fewer than a year earlier, the Emirates Group reported on 5 November 2026 in half-year results that it says reflect a full six-month impact of regional conflict and high fuel costs. Group profit before tax fell 66%.
The airline's average passenger seat factor dropped to 72.0%, from 79.5% a year earlier, while revenue passenger kilometres fell 25% and available seat kilometres 17% as Emirates flew a reduced schedule. At 30 September the airline was operating 91% of its pre-disruption network, with a passenger and cargo network of 150 airports in 78 countries and territories.
During the period Emirates received 9 new A350 aircraft, completed full cabin refurbishments on 12 aircraft (9 A380s and 3 Boeing 777s) and reached 57 aircraft fitted with Starlink, after 36 installations in the six months. Emirates airline's own profit before tax fell 68% and its revenue 13%. Fuel costs before hedging rose 60%. Chairman and Chief Executive HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum called it "a demanding six months" and said the group is well placed to navigate high fuel prices and volatility.
The results do not identify which routes make up the 9% of the pre-disruption network that was not operating at 30 September, nor when they might return. Passengers booked with Emirates should check the airline's travel updates and their booking for current schedules.
