Aeroméxico says US DOT has revoked restrictions on Mexican carriers' Mexico City–US schedules

Grupo Aeroméxico said on 19 October 2026 that the US Department of Transportation has revoked, with immediate effect, its order of 28 October 2025 that had disapproved certain existing, proposed and future schedules operated by Mexican carriers between Mexico and the United States.

According to the airline, the revocation means those limits no longer prevent it from adding flights or launching new scheduled services between the United States and either Mexico City International Airport or Felipe Ángeles International Airport, although it must still meet the applicable regulatory requirements. Aeroméxico says the DOT concluded that Mexico's actions had addressed the concerns behind the earlier order. The airline welcomed the decision and thanked Mexico's foreign ministry and its infrastructure, communications and transport ministry.

The change matters for one of the busiest international aviation markets in the Americas. Aeroméxico says it now has more freedom to evaluate additional frequencies and new services between Mexico City and the United States, which it expects to strengthen connectivity across its transborder network, including onward connections for passengers travelling via Mexico City.

The announcement does not name any new route, frequency increase or timetable, and any expansion remains subject to regulatory approval. Travellers should not expect schedule changes until Aeroméxico or other carriers publish specific services and put them on sale.
