Air Canada and United add Canada–US routes for summer 2027 as they seek to renew their partnership

Air Canada and United Airlines have announced new Canada–United States routes for summer 2027 and agreed to renew and expand their transborder joint business agreement, subject to regulatory approval, Air Canada said on 16 October 2026. An application for approval of the amended agreement has been submitted to Transport Canada.

Air Canada will fly Toronto–Louisville from 28 April to 31 October 2027, rising to daily in May, with AC8561 leaving Toronto at 14:00. Montréal–Indianapolis will run daily from 1 June to 30 September 2027, and Edmonton–Newark four times a week from 1 June to 17 October 2027, with AC1562 departing Edmonton at 06:00. Air Canada also plans to add capacity on Edmonton–San Francisco by using the Airbus A220.

United will add seasonal Newark–St. John's flights, which the Newfoundland airport says reconnects the two cities for the first time in more than a decade, and new Denver services to Ottawa and Québec City. It will also add frequencies between Washington Dulles and Québec City and raise daily seats on Denver–Winnipeg by 65 per cent.

According to the release, the partnership established in 2022 has produced 20 new Canada–US routes, six of them in 2026, and carried more than 4.3 million passengers jointly, with more than 1,200 connecting itineraries on through-fares.

Dates, frequencies and aircraft for the United routes have not been published, and the renewed agreement still awaits approval. Travellers should confirm schedules with the operating airline before booking.
