Air Canada adds Tenerife, Roatán, Santo Domingo, Mérida and Mazatlán to its winter network

Air Canada is adding five new winter routes to Tenerife in Spain's Canary Islands, Roatán, Santo Domingo, Mérida and Mazatlán, the airline said on 20 October 2026 in a release that also published new research on Canadians' winter travel habits.

According to Air Canada, Montréal will have seasonal service to Tenerife, Roatán, Santo Domingo, Quito and Aruba, while Toronto will serve Tenerife, Roatán, Quito and Mérida. Vancouver's winter list includes Mazatlán, Monterrey, Liberia and Puerto Escondido. Other seasonal links named in the release run from Calgary to Cancún and Puerto Vallarta, from Edmonton and Winnipeg to Montego Bay, from Québec City to Pointe-à-Pitre and from Halifax to Bridgetown.

The survey was carried out by Ipsos for Air Canada between 8 and 11 September 2026 among 2,001 Canadian adults. It found that 72% consider relaxing and recharging important when choosing a destination and that 55% feel there are many winter destinations they have yet to explore. Hawaii, Costa Rica and Australia led the list of future winter escapes. Mark Galardo, Air Canada's chief commercial officer, said many travellers are curious about destinations beyond the familiar.

The release does not give start dates, frequencies or aircraft for the new routes, which it says were announced earlier. Travellers should check the current schedule for each city pair directly with Air Canada.
