FAA certifies Boeing 737 MAX-10 after extended safety review
The US Federal Aviation Administration announced certification of the Boeing 737 MAX-10 on 20 October 2026 after an extended technical review. The decision allows deliveries to airlines but does not by itself set a commercial flight launch schedule.
In Everett, Washington, the regulator reported issuing an amended type certificate and updating the record authorising production of the aircraft. The FAA says the review included thousands of hours of test flying and assessment of safety requirements.
Required improvements included changes to the flight-control system, including an enhanced angle-of-attack sensor, following safety recommendations. The regulator says oversight of the manufacturer will continue.
The main importance for airlines is the ability to receive another member of the 737 family. For passengers, certification does not automatically mean an existing booking will be operated by a MAX-10.
Regulatory approval and actual service introduction are separate steps. Anyone wanting to know the aircraft type assigned to a flight should check with the operating airline and confirm any changes nearer departure.
