Viva restores Acapulco–Cancún flights with four weekly services, two of them direct

Viva has resumed flights between Acapulco and Cancún, OMA, the operator of Acapulco International Airport, announced on 3 November 2026, marking the return of a route that had been interrupted. The inaugural flight was welcomed in Acapulco by the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, together with state and municipal tourism officials and representatives of OMA and Viva.

The service offers four weekly frequencies. Two are direct, on Tuesdays and Saturdays: the published schedule shows departures from Cancún at 15:25, arriving in Acapulco at 16:55, and from Acapulco at 17:25, arriving in Cancún at 20:55. The other two, on Thursdays and Sundays, operate with a quick stopover at AIFA.

OMA says the route improves travel options between south-western and south-eastern Mexico for tourism, family visits and business, and supports tourism in Guerrero. Viva already operates three routes from Acapulco: to Cancún, to AIFA and to Monterrey. "OMA welcomes the return of this Viva route," said Ricardo Dueñas, OMA's chief executive, adding that it will further strengthen connectivity at the airport.

The announcement does not state the aircraft type or how long this schedule will remain in place. Passengers planning trips between the two resorts should confirm times and operating days with Viva before booking, particularly for the services that stop at AIFA.
